Konrad Zuse School of Excellence in Reliable AI (relAI)

Directors:

Prof. Dr. Stephan Günnemann, Chair of Data Analytics and Machine Learning (TUM)

Prof. Dr. Gitta Kutyniok, Chair of Mathematical Foundations of Artificial Intelligence (LMU)

The Zuse School of Excellence in Reliable AI combines the research and teaching of the Technische Universität München and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. The master’s and doctoral program trains future AI experts from all over the world for Germany as a location of the future.

The interdisciplinary training focuses on the areas of safety, security, privacy and responsibility. For example, AI methods must not pose a threat to humans, should be protected from attacks and information leaks, and should take into account data protection and social and ethical standards. These principles and research results are applied in the economic sectors of medicine and health, robotics or production and manufacturing technology and interacting systems as well as in algorithmic decision making.

In addition to the Fraunhofer Institutes for Cognitive Systems and for Applied and Integrated Security and Helmholtz Zentrum München, the cooperation partners include AI centers from around the world, e.g., at Stanford and Princeton universities.

relAI is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) with funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
