We are happy to welcome Prof. Yann LeCun, Chief AI Scientist at Meta AI Research and Silver Professor at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University, this September in Munich! We are looking forward to his thoughts on paths towards autonomous intelligent agents, based on a new modular cognitive architecture and a self-supervised training paradigm.
Yann LeCun’s major scientific achievements include the development of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) used in optical character recognition and computer vision, and the creation of the DjVu image compression technology and the Lush programming language. For his groundbreaking work on deep learning, LeCun, along with Yoshua Bengio and Geoffrey Hinton, won the 2018 Turing Award .
The event is jointly supported by LMU’s Center for Advanced Studies (CAS), the Munich AI Lectures Series, baiosphere, the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BAdW), the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt), the Munich Center for Machine Learning (MCML ), and the Konrad Zuse School of Excellence in Reliable AI (relAI).
