Highlights from the Radiology AI Summit 2024

From February 20 to 22, AI experts, doctors and political decision-makers gathered at the Radiology AI Summit to discuss the topic of AI in hospitals and diagnostic processes.

The focus was on improving health outcomes for patients. A key finding was the focus away from the technical possibilities and legal status of AI towards the challenges that arise from implementing AI in existing systems and processes. Above all, strong cooperation is required here. During the interdisciplinary discussion round, it became clear that the seamless integration of AI into clinical practice poses unexpected hurdles.

The discussions on the first day began with a comprehensive overview of AI in medical imaging and patient care, including current technical standards and legal aspects. This enabled participants from different professional backgrounds to immediately engage in in-depth discussions and identify common goals and problems.

On the second day, the topics of Regulatory & Policy Affairs, Cutting Edge AI Research, Clinical Validation and Adoption and Entrepreneurship in Radiology AI were discussed in greater depth. A startup pitch competition in the evening showed promising trends for clinical AI in the coming years.

The third day concluded the summit with an exploration of the ROI of AI in clinical practice, investment in radiology AI, data access and privacy, and key technologies. At the closing session, it was announced that due to the success of the event, the summit will be held again next year in London.
