Article 50 in Practice – 10/12/2026

Generative AI is part of everyday work, from marketing images to chatbots and automated publications. Since August 2, 2026, the transparency obligations of the AI Act directly apply to these applications; the Code of Practice on Transparency of AI Generated Content (June 2026) concretizes the implementation. The focus is on the operator obligations under Art. 50 para. 3 and para. 4: Emotion recognition and biometric categorization must be disclosed, as well as deepfakes and texts on matters of public interest, with exceptions.

This training translates the legal text into concrete decisions based on realistic case studies: When must content be labeled? Who is responsible, provider or operator? Participants learn to classify their own AI applications, apply appropriate labeling methods, and set up internal processes. They leave the training with a clear picture of the transparency obligations and a practical approach to compliance.

Learning objectives

  • You can correctly classify typical AI applications and decide whether and which operator obligation according to Art. 50 para. 3 or para. 4 AI Act applies, including existing exceptions.

  • You can determine the division of responsibility between provider and operator and classify how the provider obligations under Art. 50 para. 1 and para. 2 are to be checked when purchasing AI systems.

  • You plan concrete first steps for implementation: select suitable labeling practices, set up internal processes to fulfill the operator obligations of your organization, and assess whether signing the Code of Practice would benefit your organization.

Prerequisites: No legal background required. A rough understanding of the AI Act and your own examples from everyday work with generative AI, especially as an operator, are beneficial, but not required.

Trainer: Dr. Till Klein, Head of AI Regulation, appliedAI Institute for Europe.

Target group: The training is aimed at anyone who uses generative AI as an operator or is responsible for its use: founders, product and marketing leads, compliance and data protection officers, as well as communication and digitization teams in authorities and municipalities. It is equally suitable for startups, SMEs, and the public sector.
