BAIOSPHERE is the heart of the Bavarian AI ecosystem. It connects leading players from science, business, and society to form a powerful network for artificial intelligence. The aim is to raise the profile of AI Bavaria both nationally and internationally – as a center for research, application, and responsible development. BAIOSPHERE was created as part of the High-Tech Agenda on the initiative of the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts, the Bavarian State Ministry of Digital Affairs, and the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development, and Energy.

The Bavarian State Government is investing around 5.5 billion euros in cutting-edge research, academic teaching, and innovation as part of a technology offensive. With 1000 new professorships and 13,000 new study places, universities and colleges are being strengthened. The focus is on future technologies such as AI, additive manufacturing, life sciences, microelectronics, 6G, quantum technology, aerospace, and cleantech. In the field of AI, over 100 new professorships have been created and non-university research centers have been reinforced. The goal is to establish Bavaria as a leading global location for AI research, development, and application.
