At the AI for Media Hackathon 2026 "Media Data Hack", interdisciplinary teams develop prototypes for the use of AI in journalism from November 23 to 25, 2026, in Munich. The focus is on internal applications for editorial offices, product and distribution, as well as new audience offerings that enable interaction with verified media content.

Journalistic datasets such as archive content, metadata, user feedback, and program data are available for development. These can be connected to AI models via MCP servers. Additionally, teams gain access to AI services and models through the T Cloud Public Marketplace, for example, for LLMs, transcription, and embeddings. Own datasets can also be integrated.

Applications are possible as an individual or team with their own use-case idea. In total, 60 places are available. The application deadline is September 24, 2026. Selected projects will be invited to an online pitch round on October 8. Participation in the hackathon is free; travel and accommodation must generally be organized and financed by oneself.
