Bavaria remains one of the leading Startup locations in Germany: With 785 new start-ups in the past year the founding dynamics in the Free State have grown significantly more than the national average. Overall, Bavaria now counts around 4,400 Start-ups and is thus the largest startup ecosystem in Germany. This is shown by the first "Startup and Scaleup Monitor" from BIHK and Startup Association.

AI as a central growth driver

A significant driver of this development is the Artificial Intelligence. Already more than half of the Bavarian start-ups relies on AI technologies. As a result, AI is increasingly becoming decisive growth engine of the startup ecosystem.

The development is driven by the close interaction of Science, business, and startup scene carried. Many start-ups emerge directly from universities and quickly bring innovations into application. At the same time, Bavaria benefits from international tech companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft, SAP and NVIDIA, which further strengthens the location.

The positive development confirms the innovation policy course of the state government. With the High-Tech Agenda Bavaria Early on, central foundations were laid to specifically promote future technologies and build a powerful innovation ecosystem.

Start-ups play a central role in this: They drive technological innovations and make an important contribution to Growth, competitiveness and value creation.
