Regensburg has experienced dynamic development in recent years in the area of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science experienced. Powerful research and application centers have been established at the two universities in the city. At the same time, both international companies as well as medium-sized businesses drive the development and integration of AI solutions. This ecosystem is complemented by a growing number of Start-ups, develop AI-based products and bring them to market maturity.

Against this background, a Board for the Network AIR – Artificial Intelligence Regensburg set up. The goal is to closely collaborate between Economy, science, and public administration to further strengthen and strategically develop the Regensburg location in the field of AI.

Strategic collaboration for a strong AI location

The newly formed advisory board unites representatives from Science, business, politics, and associationsWith their professional expertise and networks, they are to support the strategic orientation of the AIR network and provide impetus for the future development of the AI location.

Members of the advisory board also include Dr. Michael Klimke, CEO of the Bavarian AI Agency. Together with other experts, he will accompany the strategic development of the network and provide impetus for the further development of the AI ecosystem in the region.

The common goal is to Position Regensburg as a strong AI hub on a supra-regional level and create new value for the region through innovation.

First advisory meeting at TechBase Regensburg

The strategic exchange begins with the first advisory board meeting on March 16, 2026 in the TechBase Regensburg. Among other things, the following are planned:

• Introduction of the Cluster AIR – Artificial Intelligence Regensburg and current developments

• Strategic impulses and discussion on AI Trends 2026

• Identification of common Fields of action and projects

With the establishment of the advisory board, the collaboration within the regional AI ecosystem is to be further deepened and Regensburg's position as an innovative location for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science be further strengthened.
