Nationwide funding programs
At the federal level, numerous funding programs are available to support AI research. A central point of contact is the Federal Funding Database. Through various filters, funding opportunities can be specifically researched by region (e.g., Bavaria), target group, thematic areas such as digitization or artificial intelligence as well as by funding type . The Federal Ministry for Research, Technology, and Space also provides funding in the field of AI with the program "Future of Value Creation" .
Additionally, the Federal Association for Artificial Intelligence (AI Federal Association) supports with the BVKI ConnAIct Initiative companies, startups, and research institutions in networking and accessing funding opportunities as well as cooperation projects in the AI ecosystem. Some organizations also offer funding support, for example, SPRIND (the Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation) regularly announces calls for proposals in the field of AI.
EU funding programs
The program "Digital Europe" aims to make digital technologies accessible to companies, citizens, and public administrations and to promote the introduction of key digital technologies.
With GenAI4EU the European Union specifically promotes generative AI "Made in Europe."
Many programs have short submission deadlines – early research is worthwhile!
